How Al Majid Centre collects and uses your information. Last updated 13 July 2026.
1. Who we are
This website is operated by Al Majid Welfare Trust, a registered charity in England & Wales (charity number 1103759), trading as Al Majid Centre. We are the “data controller” responsible for your personal information under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
You can contact us at info@almajidcentre.uk or by post at: 215 Northumberland Avenue , Reading, RG2 7PX.
2. The information we collect
- Information you send us. If you email the Centre using the address on our Contact page, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.
- Technical information collected automatically.Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested — which are used only to operate the site, keep it secure and diagnose problems. We also use our hosting provider's privacy-friendly analytics (Vercel Analytics), which counts page views anonymously — it sets no cookies and does not identify or track individual visitors.
- Gift Aid declarations. If you complete our Gift Aid form we collect your name, home address and postcode (required by HMRC to identify you as a UK taxpayer), which donations your declaration covers, and optionally your email address. This information is used solely to claim Gift Aid on your donations.
- Administrator accounts. A small number of authorised volunteers have password-protected accounts to manage the prayer timetable. We hold their email addresses for this purpose. Ordinary visitors do not create accounts.
We do not use advertising or cookie-based tracking, we do not build profiles of visitors, and we never sell your information.
3. Cookies
- Strictly necessary cookies. A login cookie is set only when an authorised administrator signs in to manage the site. No cookies are set for ordinary visitors browsing the prayer times.
- Google Maps (third party). Our Contact page embeds a Google map so you can find us. When that map loads, Google may set its own cookies and receive your IP address, governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
4. How we use your information and our legal basis
- To operate, maintain and secure this website — our legitimate interests.
- To respond to enquiries you send us — our legitimate interests in answering the community.
- To let authorised administrators keep the prayer times accurate — our legitimate interests.
- To claim Gift Aid on your donations and keep the records HMRC requires — our legal obligations as a charity claiming Gift Aid, based on the declaration you give us.
5. Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers who help us run the website, acting on our instructions:
- Vercel — website hosting, server logs and anonymous, cookieless page-view analytics.
- Supabase — the database holding the timetable, Gift Aid declarations and administrator sign-in.
- Google Maps — the map embedded on the Contact page.
- HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) — Gift Aid declaration details, when we claim Gift Aid on your donations.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, they are required to protect it to UK-equivalent standards. We do not share your information with anyone for marketing.
6. How long we keep it
Server logs are kept only for a short period by our hosting provider. Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry. Timetable and administrator data is kept for as long as the Centre operates the website. Gift Aid declarations are kept for at least 6 years after the last donation we claim Gift Aid on, as required by HMRC.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, or restrict how we use it;
- object to our use of your information;
- ask us to transfer your information to another organisation;
- withdraw consent at any time where we relied on it.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@almajidcentre.uk. There is normally no charge, and we will respond within one month.
8. Complaints
If you are concerned about how we handle your information, please contact us first so we can help. You also have the right to complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date.
